Donations for ALS- also known as Lou Gehrig's disease

Hello everyone out there in blogger world. I know I have been MIA for a very long time but I wanted to try to get this out there. Two weeks ago we had a death in the family. My brothers wife's father died of ALS. I know when I first heard of this I wasn't exactly sure what this disease was. Persons with ALS have a loss of muscle strength and coordination that eventually gets worse. This eventually makes one unable to do routine tasks such as going up steps, getting out of a chair, or swallowing. In ALS, nerve cells (neurons) waste away or die, and can no longer send messages to muscles. This eventually leads to muscle weakening, twitching, and an inability to move the arms, legs, and body. The condition slowly gets worse. When the muscles in the chest area stop working, it becomes hard or impossible to breathe on one's own. ALS affects approximately 1 out of every 100,000 people.
There is no known cure for ALS. The first drug treatment for the disease is a medicine called riluzole. Riluzole may prolong life, but does not reverse or stop the disease from getting worse. This is a horrible way to live and slowly die from. That is why I am asking for donations to help the ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter. Anyone in the East Coast area can also participate in their 2010 Ocean City Board... Walk to Defeat ALS. Any donations will be grealy appreciated. As little as $5 makes a difference. Here is the link to donate or Sponsor a walker. Thanks!

Caution!

So a few days ago my husbands friend was on our computer. He was on facebook when something came up on the screen for Security Tools. I guess he looked at it and then clicked off it when it wanted you to pay. Well it embedded itself in my computer. It's malware. It basically said that everything in my computer was infected with a virus and that I couldn't access anything (and I mean anything) unless I put in my credit card number and paid for the program. My husbands friend is a computer guy and he said it is the hardest thing to remove from your computer because it hides itself so well that you can't find it anywhere. The only way to get it off is to wipe the hard drive. Thankfully when we got the computer we had our friend go through and program everything, so he put on Malware Bytes. This program is amazing. I had to go in and start my computer in Safe mode and run the Malware program several times but it saved my computer. It's a free program and if you don't have it you should seriously consider getting it. I run it atleast once a week. But word of wisdom stay far away from Security Tools. Do not put your credit card number in because my computer guy said one of his other clients did and Security Tools drained their whole bank account. So that happening further delayed my posting so I apologize. Tomorrow I will be posting a giveaway!!

MIA

Hey everyone, I know I have been MIA lately. My parents are coming today. They drove all the way from Texas. They haven't seen my new house yet so I have been frantically cleaning all week. And recleaning and cleaning some more. Because as soon as I get one room clean my kids trash the one I cleaned before that. I also scrubbed down the bathrooms for my 6yr old to pee all of the toliet again. So my day will involve recleaning everything I have cleaned 50 times this week. So I'm sorry if I am missing for a little since they will be staying with me and I only get to see them 2-3 times a year. So thank you all for being patient with me, I really appreciate it and when they leave I have some great giveaways to post for you guys!

Officially Addicted

Ok, I can finally admit it.... I am completely and utterly addicted to American Idol. I have a dvr and I faithfully record every episode. I have even enstilled feat into my children if they even think about canceling the recording. I don't even know why I love it so much but I do. I like Ellen but I wasn't sure how much I would like her on Idol, but she is great. I can't imagine what it will be like without Simon. He's my favorite one on there. He is brutally honest and I think it is a good character trait to have. Well hopefully some of you are addicted as well so I'm not the only one. Well gotta go because Idol started 20 min ago and I can fast forward the commercials now..

Shake'N Bake Review And Giveaway!

I remember when I was little and my mom would buy Krafts Shake'N Bake. I used to love helping my mom. She would always let me shake it. It made me feel so grown up. Now I let my kids help and they enjoy it just as much as I did. It's a great way to add a little family time in while making dinner. As always Shake'N Bake tastes great. My favorite thing about Shake'N Bake is that you get the taste and texture of fried chicken without all the mess and added calories. It's also a fast and easy way to bake chicken. Especially for the working moms and those that stay at home and had a rough day with the kids. A little shaking and 45min. in the oven and dinner is ready! They also provide recipes for delicious simple meals that are under 500 calories. Kraft is giving two of my readers the chance to win coupons to get 4 free boxes of Shake'N Bake. Help! Need Some Good Ideas!

Tomorrow is my son's birthday. Yes I know I just had to give birth on Valentine's day. It's ok though I have come to grips with the fact that I won't have a romantic Valentine's day for awaile. I need some ideas on what else to get for a 6yr boy. He likes fire trucks but if I have to buy another one I wll rip my hair out (I have probably bought over 50 fire trucks since he was born). Every time I ask him he says " I dunno another game for the PS3" I just don't want him sitting on his butt playing video games all day long. So please help, any thoughts would be great!

BusyBuzzyBees Review

Don't you all hate how the winter affects your lips. Mine always get so dry, and most chapstick doesn't help much. Well, I got to try BusyBuzzyBees' Exfoliating Lip Srub. It has Sugar crystals in it that gently exfoliate any dead or dry skin from your lips, giving fresh new skin a chance to grow and thrive. It's really cool because you can feel the roughness of the sugar crystals and yet at the same time you can feel how smooth it is making you lips. It really made a huge improvement in the softness of my lips. BusyBuzzyBees uses a mixture of oils that help promote the natural healing process as well as moisturize your lips. BusyBuzzyBees Lip Srub and Balm come in some really great flavors. They also have a variety of other products available. They have Soaps, Lip Balms, mini Perfumes ( I also got to try this out in the Pear scent and smells great!), and other great products.

BusyBuzzyBees loves to make natural and functional products for you to enjoy. A lot of her products are completely natural, those that aren’t are still at least 90% natural. They also have Vegan friendly products. So if you suffer like I do, you should go over to BusyBuzzyBees and try one of her amazing products.

Head Huggers Headbands Review and Giveaway!

How many of you have had bad hair days? I know I have. I have pretty long hair, and it's always in my face, or the wind is blowing it all over the place. A major pain in the butt. So when I saw these headbands I definitely wanted to try them out. Head Huggers Headbands are really cool. They look like a bandanna but fit like a head band. I also suffer from migraines and it's hard for me to wear headbands. Well not these headbands, after about 15min of wearing it I totally forgot it was on. It stayed in place all day (even with my 2yr old trying to get it,lol), my hair was never in my face, it didn't bother my head like most headbands do. These are really great headbands. Head Huggers Headbands come in all different patterns and fit most people.
I tried it on my 2yr and it was a little big but stayed on. These headbands are great for everyone. Head Huggers Headbands all started with a mom tired of her daughters hair in her face and turned into a great shop. Head Huggers Headbands has offered one of my readers one of their Hawaiian headbands. Please see below to enter!

I was not paid in any way by Head Huggers Headbands. I was given their product for review purposes. The opionions stated her are solely my own.

Country Bob's Review and Giveaway!

In 1968 Country Bob perfected the sauce of his dreams. After years of giving it to friends and family he began to sell it in 1977. And to this day Country Bob's sauce is still used in kitchens world wide. So when I received a bottle of Country Bob's All purpose sauce I thought I'd give it a try. So I went to Country Bob's website and found this recipe.

Country Bob's Meatballs

Ingredients
3 lbs ground beef
2 eggs
1/2 cup Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce (or may substitute Spicy)
1 envelope onion soup mix
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Spaghetti sauceMethods/steps
Combine all ingredients. Shape into golf ball sized balls. Brown in pan. Add spaghetti sauce and simmer until done.

I don't know about you guys but I love meatballs. My dad made so much spaghetti when I was a kid ( my mom went back to get her masters degree and it's the only thing he knew how to make) that I can't eat it without either sausage or meatballs. So I gave the receipe a try (which is a very easy receipe). They were one of the best meatballs I ever had. This sauce really is a universal sauce you can use it in so many different recipes. It's tastes great on meat, chicken and pork. My daughter loved it with chicken nuggets and you guy all know how picky toddlers can be. It is definately a must have in any house. Guess what? The great people at Country Bob's have offered 2 of my readers a bottle of their All Purpose Sauce! Keep reading to see how to win!

I was not paid or compensated by Country Bob's in any way. I was given their product for review purposes only. The opinions stated here are solely my own.

It's so true to, my husband got mad at me through the whole Twilight series, he said all I did was read all day and night lol. I hope you guys like as much as I did. Oh yeah my dog had her puppies last night! EIGHT of them!! I can't believe she had that many. Oh well!

My Pregnant Dog!

I have a pregnant dog. Yeah, I know I love puppies but I hate puppies. I love them when they aren't mine. I hate potty training. There is nothing more gross then puppy "accidents". Don't get me wrong I love dogs but I like them a little past the really puppy stage. Like when they are somewhat house trained. I'm hoping she doesn't have a very big litter, it's her first. But I'm not usually that lucky, with my luck she'll have like 8 or 9. I have no idea what do to when she goes into to labor. I don't even know what the signs of labor are other than what the vet said. He said that her temperature would drop to 100 degrees. I really do not want to rectally take a dogs temperature. My husbands the one with the stupid idea to get her pregnant so I will leave that lovely job to him. (hahaha) Sorry if there are a lot of typos in this post, my husband and his friends are playing football on the PS3 and I have his friend yelling "Get it baby, Get it baby' in my ear. My fault for having the computer in the game room. Well pray for me that everything goes well with her, and for me that she only has a couple puppies. I am going back to the prison called my bed since I'm not allowed to do anything but keep my leg elevated. I now feel extremely sorry for pregnant women that are forced to bed rest. I have read litterally six (300 + page) books just since Friday. (my grandfather owned a book store so I grew up reading a lot) Oh yeah make sure you enter Divine Designs Giveaway if you haven't it's a beautiful necklace!

New Giveaway for Tomorrow!

Hi everyone, I'm gonna leave todays post short. I went to the doctor and I guess I have something called Compartment Syndrome in my calf. Which basically means I have way to much blood sitting in my calf and its affected my calf muscle. I guess its something pretty serious. If it doesn't get better they will have to cut open my calf to let it drain and they won't stitch it up, they'll just leave it open. YUCK! So I've been told to stay in bed. But tommorrow I will be posting a new Giveaway along with 20 to Life Blog and I know you will all love it. So check back by tomorrow to enter it!

Useless Rambling

I finally got to take a shower last night! It was about time. My husband had to help me get in and out. I also got my stitches out yesterday. I had to sit there forever and only saw the doctor for 5 min. He didn't even look at my knee. Don't you think thats wierd. I thought he should have but no he had his MA take the stitches out and told me to come back in 3 weeks. So I have to have this stupid knee brace on my knee for a LONG time. They said they are gonna keep it straight for 3 weeks, then start bending it. So who knows how long that will take. A is started to feel a little better. She still sounds awful. Her voice is all messed up so she sounds like a little mouse. C is getting ready for his 100th day in kindergarten. So he's all excited. And I just found out that my parents will be coming to see me the end of Feb!! I'm so excited. I don't care how old you get you always need your mommy and daddy. I can hardly wait for them to get here.

Sick Baby :(

Hi everyone! First I would like to thank everyone for all the great advice given on my last post. I think for right now I will leave C in the school he goes to. Another thing I wanted to say was that since I am new to blogging I never knew how many people care enough to give their time to write what they think. It's wonderful, I loved hearing from every one of you. Thank you for that.
Well last night A went to bed around 10. She was so tired and pretty much cried her self to sleep. I thought it was because she hadn't had a nap all day and was just so tired. Well since I got my knee done I haven't been able to sleep very well so it was about 12 by the time I went to bed. A still sleeps with us and was on my side of the bed. My husband moved her and she woke up and sounded like a dog barking. I couldn't believe it, she sounded fine (other than really upset) when she went to bed and 2 hours later sounded awful. So I sat in the bathroom with her while the shower was on hot to see if the steam would help. It did as long as she was in there so I did that several times last night. Today my husband is going to take her to the doctors but I'm not sure what else to do for her. Anyone have any ideas? I think she may have croup. Well wish us luck at the doctors that it's not anything to bad.

Follow up on A

Well the doctor said it's some kind of viral infection. He gave her a steroid to take. Which I hate to give her. It just makes her even crabbier than she already is. He also gave her medicine to give her breathing treatments which should help a lot. He wants me to bring her back in a couple of days if shes not better to do a chest x-ray. I guess to make sure she doesn't have pnemonia. She's still miserable so it's gonna be a long night. C also seems to think that he needs to irritate her all day. I'm ready to beat him ( I want to but I never do). Have you ever notcied that when one of the kids is sick the other one fights for your attention. I'm gonna go nuts!

Switching School?

Hi everyone! As you all know I have a 5yr old. Well in December we moved into a new house and a new school district. So far C is still in the same school ( I have to drive him every morning)and I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should just leave him in the same school or switch to the one closer to my house. It's kindergarten so he only goes for half a day and it takes me 15min. to get him there. It doesn't really bother me to drive him but he hates having to get up earlier. I just want whats best for him. I don't know how it will affect him to have to meet all new people all over again especially when there's only about 5 months of school left. He's a pretty big kid (4 1/2 feet tall and 80lbs.) and so far the kids at the school he goes to get along with him great and I don't want that to change. Also his teacher told me that it would be hard on him educationaly to switch schools. The school close to my new house is supposed to be a nice school, it's a lot bigger than the one he goes to now and is only 2 blocks down the road. I'm so torn on what to do, one day he wants to stay at the school he's in and the next he wants to switch. My parents say leave him and my husbands parents say switch him even though they live 3 blocks from the school he's in now. He's my first child so I am new to all of this and it's so hard to know what the best thing to do is. So if anyone has any advice for me I could sure use it!

Lazy Day!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited! I have a couple of great reviews and giveaways lined up. I think you guys are going to really like what these companies have to offer. As soon as I get all the details sorted out I will let you guys know. As for my agenda for the day I have been ordered to stay in bed, my leg is HUGE! So I have to listen or everyone is gonna just keep yelling. Hopefully sooner rather than later it will feel better. Wish me luck!

Worse than child birth pain

Hello everyone. I had my surgery (ACL) yesterday and I would just like to say one thing... Nerve blocks are great until they wear off. This morning I woke up feeling pretty good, painful but not like I was dying. Around 2pm I definately felt like dying and no amount of pain pills or ice is changing that. And of all days my kids deceided that they would absoulutly lose their minds. They are driving me insane and terriorizing the house. So wish me luck that I will survive till tomorrow.

Short but not so sweet

So a really long time ago I went outside to take the trash out. Seems like a simple thing right? Wrong. I was wearing flip flops and slid down a very small hill and hyperextended my knee. Ouch! It hurt for a couple of weeks, then got better or so I thought. Well now 4yrs later I finally got tired of it acting up and went to the doctor. He then sent me to an orthopedic surgeon. Finds out I tore my meniscus ( I probably didn't spell that right sorry). So I had surgery in October of last year. Six VERY long weaks on crutches and it STILL hurts. So I went back for the 2 month check up on it the end of November. He then tells me that my ACL is bad and needs to be fixed. My first thought was shouldn't he have done that when he did the last surgery? Well he said he thought it would still work right but apparently its not. So tommorrow I get to have my ACL fixed. I am extremely nervous and dreading another 6 weeks on crutches. So if you are all wondering where I am tomorrow I'll be starving from 12 tonight till 2:30 tomorrow afternoon ( I know could they have made it any later?) then off to have my knee done. So wish me luck!

P.S.
I actually got a babysitter, have any of you ever wondered why it takes surgery or the birth of another child to finally get a babysitter?
